This time of year is all about giving thanks and reflecting on all of the successes and hardships from the past year. It's about spending time with family, turning off your phone and really being present as you drink spiked hot cocoa and fill yourself with indulgent dishes that you've been dreaming about since last Thanksgiving. Here's a glimpse into how I spend my Thanksgiving holiday:
How I spend Thanksgiving: My mom and I take turns hosting. This year we will be celebrating at my parents house in rural Pennsylvania. We love heading out to the woods, the kids get a chance to ride horses, and we go for long walks through the trees. My parents still live in the 1800’s farmhouse that I grew up in, and it’s incredibly cozy. I love that we always get to use candles and light the fireplace.
Favorite Decorating Tip: This year I’m going to try a pumpkin vase for flowers - we were so busy trick-or-treating that we never had time to carve pumpkins - and we still have a bunch. So, we will carve them out and arrange some flowers and branches that we find around the farm.
Favorite Websites for Thanksgiving Tips and Ideas: NY Times, Martha Stewart, and Food Network
Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Pineapple stuffing, hands down.
Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition: Going for a post-meal walk with my family.
What I'm Most Grateful For This Year: Getting the opportunity to start this clothing line, and connect with so many amazing women. Working with a female run factory in India, working with the amazing all-female cohort in the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, and getting to meet all our amazing female-owned boutiques. It’s been a tough year in so many ways for women, and it’s so empowering to work with such inspiring female entrepreneurs.
